Perstorp appoints Animal Nutrition leader

Ian Atterbury to lead Animal Nutrition business growth plan for acid-based solutions supplier.

Perstorp Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad, announced new leadership within its Animal Nutrition business, with Ian Atterbury joining as senior vice president, effective Jan. 13, 2025.

He succeeds Aart Mateboer, who retired earlier this year.

Atterbury is an established executive leader with more than 30 years of experience in the animal nutrition industry. He has been working globally for much of his career and has a background in leading and growing animal nutrition businesses.

The company shares my ambition to push the boundaries of our understanding in this industry that we are all so passionate about and has strong foundations on which we will continue to build,” Atterbury said.

Perstorp chief executive officer Ib Jensen added, "Animal nutrition is an important component of Perstorp’s future. We have a new ambitious strategic plan outlining the roadmap to grow the business through our differentiated product pipeline.”

Perstorp, based in Malmo, Sweden, has supplied and supported additives for the agriculture industry for over 60 years. As a producer of key raw materials such as propionic, formic, butyric and valeric acid, the company focuses its efforts on developing the next generation of acid-based solutions for gut health and preservation.

Perstorp spearheaded the use of propionins, butyrins and valerins (esters of organic acids) in animal nutrition and is also focused on synergistic blended formulation to support animal performance, as well as mold inhibition in grains, feed and feed raw materials.

In addition, Perstorp is involved in several sectors of the specialty chemicals market globally for a wide variety of industries and applications.
