Farm Progress is excited to announce former contributor and agriculture industry consultant Nevil Speer is returning to BEEF and Feedstuffs after a multiyear hiatus. He will focus on the market and the food industry, lending his expertise through commentary and trade insights.
“Nevil’s understanding of the entire food system, combined with his ability to zero in on the issues of importance with a complete understanding of all sides, make him an ideal contributor to our titles,” said Sarah Muirhead, Farm Progress livestock managing director. “We welcome Nevil back and look forward to his regular columns and reports.”
Speer is an industry consultant based in Bowling Green, Ky., with extensive experience and involvement in the livestock and food industry. His projects span market competition, business and economic implications of agroterrorism, animal identification, assessment of price risk and market volatility on the producer segment and usage of antibiotics in animal agriculture. He holds a doctorate in animal science and a master’s in business administration.
For Farm Progress, Speer will again write about the many aspects of agriculture and the food industry with regular contributions to BEEF and Feedstuffs. Speer also plans to revive his annual “State of BEEF Industry” report. He will collaborate with the Farm Progress research team to identify and outline the key economic trends and conditions that will impact the beef industry in the coming year.
“The annual look at the beef industry and the trends ahead has always been a highlight and must-read for the industry,” Muirhead said. “We look forward to sharing this market-critical insight with our BEEF audience.”
Speer is thrilled to return to sharing his insights and innovative ideas with the dedicated readers of BEEF and Feedstuffs, sparking conversations that shape the industry's future.
“BEEF and Feedstuffs are industry-leading titles in the industries they serve,” Speer said. "I have always appreciated how they approach the topics from the standpoint of helping their audiences understand and think about those critical issues that are driving change and creating opportunities and challenges. I look forward to contributing to that effort.” As part of Informa Markets, Farm Progress is the largest, most diversified agriculture information business in North America.
