The Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST) is pleased to announce that Jack Bobo, director of the University of Nottingham’s Food Systems Institute, will receive the 2024 Borlaug CAST Communication Award (BCCA) during a special event held at the World Food Prize/Borlaug Dialogue in Des Moines, Iowa. The award presentation will take place on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM (CDT) at the Iowa Events Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center.

Bobo is being honored for his exceptional work in promoting effective communication about agricultural science. Throughout his career, he has delivered over 500 keynote speeches across 50 countries, inspiring global audiences to engage with the future of food systems and sustainability.

In response to receiving this honor, Bobo said, "Communication is powerful—it can either divide us or unite us. As we face global challenges that require collective effort and understanding, I am reminded of the significance of our words and the impact they can have. I’m incredibly grateful to CAST for this award and to everyone who has supported my journey."

CAST CEO Chris Boomsma praised Bobo’s contributions to agricultural science communication, stating, "Jack Bobo exemplifies the very best of what the Borlaug CAST Communication Award represents—an unwavering dedication to bridging the gap between science and the public. His ability to communicate complex agricultural issues in a way that resonates with diverse audiences is truly remarkable. CAST is honored to recognize his contributions to global food systems and sustainability."

In addition to the award presentation, CAST will have a booth during the World Food Prize/Borlaug Dialogue, where attendees can learn more about CAST’s work in agricultural science communication and its upcoming initiatives. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the booth to engage with CAST representatives and explore ways to get involved.
