Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack will again be on Capitol Hill to discuss the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s budget this week, this time before the Senate appropriators. The House is in recess, although the Senate is in session.

Here are highlights from the upcoming week for hearings and activities important to agriculture.

Senate Ag Appropriations subcommittee hearing - Wednesday, the Senate Appropriations Committee's Subcommittee on Agriculture Appropriations will hold a hearing at 2:00 p.m. ET on the Fiscal Year 2017 Budget for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. EPA regulatory actions: Wednesday, March 9, the Environment and Public Works committee will hold a hearing  to examine cooperative federalism, focusing on state perspectives on Environmental Protection

National Farmers Union Convention: Monday, Mar. 7, at 9 a.m. CST Vilsack will deliver keynote remarks on innovation and the future of American agriculture at the National Farmers Union (NFU) 114th Anniversary Convention in Minneapolis.

Conversation on food and nutrition at the Bipartisan Policy Center: On Wednesday, March 9, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will join former Secretaries Dan Glickman and Ann Veneman to discuss the current state of nutrition in America and innovative ways to create a healthier future.
