WASDE: Red meat production lowered; poultry, eggs increased

USDA report leaves cattle and hog prices unchanged from last month.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) released this week the March “World Agricultural Supply & Demand Estimates” (WASDE) report, which raised the 2016 forecast of total red meat and poultry production from last month. Small reductions in beef and pork were offset by a forecast for higher first-quarter broiler and turkey production, USDA said.
