USDA shocks market with big increase in corn acres: Podcast

Corn pegged at 93.6 million acres and soybeans at 82.2 million acres.

Corn futures were trading about 10 cents lower near midday on Thursday after the U.S. Department of Agriculture said it expects farmers to plant 93.6 million acres of corn this year. That number exceeded trade forecasts. Soybean acreage was put at 82.2 million, which was close to forecasts and down from a year ago.
