USDA extends organic livestock rule comment period

Comment period extended by additional 30 days until July 13.

U.S. Senate and House Agriculture Committee leaders announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture granted their request for an extension of the public comment period for the agency’s proposed rule regarding revised organic livestock and poultry production standards.

The National Chicken Council (NCC), the National Turkey Federation, the North American Meat Institute, the U.S. Poultry & Egg Assn. and the United Egg Producers had also requested the comment period extension.
