Undercover video targets UEP certification program

Animal rights group pressures egg organization to eliminate cages from its standards.

Animal rights organization Mercy for Animals released today a new undercover video of a United Egg Producers (UEP)-certified egg farm and called on UEP to eliminate the use of cages from its certification standards.

The video, shot at Shady Brae Farms in Marietta, Pa. — an egg supplier to UEP-certified Sauder's Eggs, alleged animal abuse directly related to the use of battery cages.
