Total meat, poultry inventory rises slightly

Beef and pork stocks higher than previous month, while chicken stocks lower.

Total beef, pork and poultry inventories at the end of August were 2.389 billion lb., 0.3% higher than a year ago and 8.8% higher than the five- year average, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s latest “Cold Storage” report.
