Table egg production sharply higher in July

Table egg production still lower than pre-HPAI levels.

Both the number of hens in the table egg flock, at 300 million, and table egg production, at 613 million doz., were sharply higher in July compared to the previous year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's latest “Livestock, Dairy & Poultry Outlook.” The increase reflects the impact of the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreak, as both the table egg flock and egg production were depressed by HPAI in 2015, USDA said.
