Supreme Court rules against Tyson in class action suit

Court upholds $5.8 million judgement for Iowa processing plant employees.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Tuesday against Tyson Foods Inc. to uphold a $5.8 million judgment for employees who claimed that they were underpaid for work in the company's Storm Lake, Iowa, pork processing plant.

The ruling brings closure to a case initially heard back in 2011, when a federal district court trial in Iowa ruled in favor of the plaintiffs. Tyson challenged the verdict, but in 2014, the Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the judgment.
