Southern Calif. Egg Coop acquires Moark LLC.

Southern California Egg Coop. buys western region of Moark, LLC. from Land O' Lakes.

The Southern California Egg Cooperative, Inc. announced the purchase of the Western Region of Moark, LLC. from Land O’ Lakes, Inc.  The business will continue to operate from the office and distribution center in Fontana.

The Southern California Egg Cooperative was created in 2010 by four family-owned farms – Demler Enterprises, Pine Hill Egg Ranch, Demler Egg Ranch and Harmony Egg Ranch.  The farms are owned by members of the Demler family who have been producing and selling locally-produced, high-quality California fresh eggs throughout Southern California for more than sixty years. Moark is a distributor, processor and producer of fresh shell eggs delivering top quality eggs to retail and food service customers.

In preparation for the approaching 2015 changes related to egg sales and production in California, the Southern California Egg Cooperative recently expanded with the addition of several new members and additional egg production. In addition to this expansion, building projects are underway to further meet the needs of California consumers. SCEC Chairman John Demler said, “This is a great day for us. As we combine our local egg production with Moark’s strengths, it puts us in the position to become the premier egg supplier in the market.”

Gary Foster, VP of Operations for the cooperative, will be General Manager and oversee distribution and other functions. Foster held that position previously at Moark prior to joining the co-op in 2012.
