Sen. Tester asks DOJ to block Monsanto-Bayer merger

Senator said merger would undermine competition, lead to higher consumer prices and reduce research and innovation.

Sen. Jon Tester (D., Mont.) is demanding that the U.S. Department of Justice reject the proposed $66 billion merger of Monsanto and Bayer.

In a letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Tester expressed serious concerns that the proposed merger will further consolidate the input market for family farmers to purchase seeds and pesticides.
