THE Scoular Co. announced its acquisition of the assets of Tribune Grain LLC of Tribune, Kan.
Included in the acquisition is a grain elevator in Tribune that's located on the Kansas & Oklahoma Railroad and two seasonally operated rural truck facilities located north and northwest of Tribune in Greeley County, Kan.
Terms of the transaction were not announced.
Glen Hofbauer, company director who oversees Scoular's Kansas operations, said Scoular will continue the commitment to area farmers of previous Tribune Grain owner Dan Hild.
Hild will be working with the Tribune Grain facilities and customers on Scoular's behalf.
"I've worked with the people at Scoular's elevator in Coolidge (Kan.) for years, and I'm confident that Scoular will strive to provide good competition to maximize local grain prices for our area farmers," Hild said. "I also believe that working with Scoular will result in as little change for our customers as possible. Scoular is the kind of company that will make local decisions and give farmers an open ear."
In addition to the Tribune area facilities, Scoular operates 10 other grain elevators in Kansas and eastern Colorado, the nearest of which is a unit train loading facility in Coolidge.
These locations are part of the company's grain marketing network that includes offices and facilities in 18 states, Canada and Mexico.
"Our network of diverse locations, products and services allows us to connect farmers to opportunities down the road, across the country or around the world," Hofbauer said.
