San Diego adopts "Meatless Monday" menus in all K-8 schools in the district.

The San Diego (Cal.) Unified School District has voted 4-1 to adopt "Meatless Monday" menus in all K-8 schools in the district.

The vote took place during an evening meeting on June 4.

The policy would not affect high schools, and elementary school students who bring their own lunches would be permitted to include meat in their meals.

The policy also has been adopted by the University of California-San Diego, the University of San Diego and the Los Angeles (Cal.) Unified School District.
