Rising pork production ahead

Pork production expected to ramp up to meet robust consumer demand for more pork, and WASDE makes adjustment in production in totals.

THE U.S. Department of Agriculture considerably raised the 2015 pork production total — by 600 million lb. — in its recently released "World Agricultural Supply & Demand Estimates" (WASDE) report.

Based on the September "Quarterly Hogs & Pigs" report, USDA is pegging total 2015 pork production at 23.938 billion lb., while it lowered 2014 production to 22.773 billion lb. (Table 1).
