Long-term impacts of avian flu on poultry and egg industries unknown as fall migration period may spread virus.

THERE'S a lot of uncertainty in the poultry and egg industries right now as producers continue to deal with the effects of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) and try to prepare for the future.

Currently, Iowa and Minnesota have been the most heavily affected by the outbreaks, which primarily hit egg-laying flocks and turkeys.
