Pinnacle makes two purchases

PINNACLE Agriculture Holdings LLC recently announced that it has acquired Max Birney Aerial Spraying Inc. in Copeland, Kan., and East Bernard Milling Co. in East Bernard, Texas.

East Bernard Milling will operate as part of Pinnacle's Sanders brand, and Max Birney will operate as part of Pinnacle's AgOne Application Services brand.

The new Sanders location will be managed by former East Bernard Milling co-owners Brady and Britt Whitley. The new AgOne location will be managed by former owner Max Birney.

The current employees of both companies will retain their positions under the new ownership.

The father and son team of Henry and Johnny Viktorin started East Bernard Milling in 1954 to provide quality feeds and service to farmers and ranchers throughout Wharton County, Texas, and beyond.

The Whitley family purchased East Bernard Milling and took over operations in July 2000.

Coupled with the existing Sanders operations in Combes, Hearne, Knippa, Marlin and Taft, Texas, this will be Sanders' sixth retail location in the southeast Texas area, offering custom fertilizer blends, seed and crop protection products and precision agriculture services through Sanders' proprietary OptiGro system.

Max Birney was founded in 1980 as a full-service chemical application company, providing satellite-guided ground and aerial crop applications of fertilizers, pesticides and fungicides.

It will continue to provide ground and aerial application services, supplemented by agronomy services and a complete slate of seeds, custom fertilizer blends, crop protection products and precision agriculture services through the OptiGro system.
