OSHA updates small farm memo

Post-harvest activities exempt from OSHA regulation under updated guidance.

THE Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) formally clarified that it cannot regulate family farms with 10 or fewer employees.

OSHA issued a guideline saying it recognizes that post-harvest activities that are integral to farming operations, including drying and storing grain, are exempt from regulations if the farm has 10 or fewer employees, consistent with current law.
