The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering & Medicine (formerly the National Research Council) is forming a committee to develop a new report on the nutrient requirements of poultry.
The committee of up to 15 experts will conduct the study. The National Academies is seeking suggestions for committee members with the following expertise with respect to poultry species: energy nutrition; protein and amino acid nutrition; vitamin and mineral nutrition; nutrient bioavailability; feed composition and feed additives; diet formulation; practical feeding; effects of environment on nutrition; nutrient excretion and environmental management of nutrients, and nutrient requirements modeling. Candidates with other expertise relevant to the goals of the study also will be considered.
Nominations should be sent by email to Robin Schoen, director of the Board on Agriculture & Natural Resources ([email protected]), with the words Poultry Nomination in the subject line.
The email should include the name, title and contact information for the nominee(s) and a brief justification for the nomination, including a statement about the nominee’s area of expertise and suitability to serve on the committee.
The deadline for nominations is March 25, 2016.
Serving on a National Academies study committee is a demanding yet professionally rewarding experience, according to the organization. The document that results from the study will provide the stakeholder community and the nation with a valuable, independent assessment of the nutrient requirements of poultry.
