NAS announces new prize in food, ag sciences

Prize to recognize research by mid-career scientists working in agriculture or food production research.

The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) announced July 13 the creation of a new prize, the NAS Prize in Food & Agriculture Sciences, to be presented annually, beginning in 2017, with an award of $100,000.

The prize is being endowed through generous gifts from the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
