Monsanto Q2 profits fall with corn prices

Company posts $1.42b net income during quarter.

DECLINING corn acres and the strengthening U.S. dollar are to blame for Monsanto's lower second-quarter profits, according to the company's latest financial results.

Monsanto said its estimates for fiscal 2015 earnings per share and free cash flow remain in the ranges of its original guidance but are now trending at the lower end of the ranges, given the industry-wide headwinds.
