LIVESTOCK MARKETS: Mexico's beef exports seeing significant growth

U.S. is largest destination for Mexican beef exports.

Beef exports from Mexico have grown rapidly in recent years. According to Oklahoma State University Extension livestock marketing specialist Derrell S. Peel, total beef exports began increasing in 2009 and have increased from about 28,000 metric tons in 2008 to more than 161,000 mt in 2015, a nearly six-fold increase. Mexico is currently the 10th-largest beef exporting country, surpassing Argentina for the first time in 2015.
