LIVESTOCK MARKET REPORT: USDA raises 2016 total red meat, poultry production

Domestic market will need to absorb 5.6 billion lb. more red meat and poultry than in 2014.

In the U.S. Department of Agriculture's latest "World Agricultural Supply & Demand Estimates" (WASDE) report, released Feb. 9, the 2016 forecast for total red meat and poultry production was raised from last month (Table 1). USDA said higher forecasts for pork and broiler production more than offset reduced forecasts for beef and turkey.
