Poultry per capita consumption surpassed red meat consumption last year, but Dr. Paul Aho, speaking recently at the 2016 Market Intelligence Forum, said it wasn't because the chicken industry passed the other proteins; it was because the other proteins fell so far that they went to the lows.
For 2016, Aho said the U.S. is currently at around the same rate in weekly chick placements as it was last year.
