LINCOLN Supply and Ag Partners broke ground last month on a major expansion slated to double capacity at their jointly owned feed mill near Ellsworth, Iowa.
The expansion will also integrate the newest technology while enhancing the plant's grain receiving and storage capabilities.
According to Ag Partners, a joint venture of Cargill and Albert City Elevator cooperative, the $10 million investment will culminate in annual feed output of 800,000 tons for local turkey and hog farms. The company estimates that the mill will utilize 20 million bu. of corn and 100,000 tons of soybean meal annually.
The feed mill is a 50/50 joint venture between Lincoln Supply, a firm comprised of 15 central Iowa turkey farmers, and Ag Partners, which operates 19 facilities in the state, including grain and agronomy facilities and retail centers.
A 2008 renovation included the removal of much of the old mill and construction of the current facility.
