July shell egg inventories highest ever for month

Processors face headwinds of strong U.S. dollar and international supply conditions.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported July 18 that the national shell egg inventory was 1.364 million cases, climbing 1.3% from the prior week and up 34% compared to the five-year average for the same period.

Breaking stock inventories were 333,200 cases, climbing 8.5% on the week and increasing 14.8% in relation to the five-year average. Total shell egg inventories increased 2.7% from the week prior to 1.697 million cases, a 29.7% increase from the five-year average.
