Inland Sea to farm salmon in Iowa

Facility to house recirculating aquaculture system to produce salmon on two-acre footprint.

A new company announced Aug. 16 that it plans to build a state-of-the-art recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility for salmon production near Harlan, Iowa. The facility, as proposed, will have a two-acre footprint in an industrial park.

Officials of the company, known as Inland Sea-Harlan LLC, said they chose the location because of its readily available, low-cost utilities and water and excellent access to highway, interstate and air transportation.
