H.J. Baker acquires two Brazil companies

H.J. Baker & Bro. Inc. announced April 3 that it has purchased Rumiphos Industria e Comercio de Sal Mineral e Racoes located in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.

Rumiphos has been producing free-choice minerals and protein supplements for ruminants for more than 10 years.

H.J. Baker also announced that it has purchased Mineral Fanton Industrial e Comercio Ltda. in Sao Paulo, Brazil, an established producer of free-choice minerals for beef cattle and feed for cattle, horses and sheep. Fanton has been operating for 28 years in eight states in Brazil.

H.J. Baker said the acquisitions are part of its strategy to establish a stronger presence in emerging international agricultural markets. The company has been active in Brazil for more than a year.

As it continues to expand its international presence, H.J. Baker noted that it is launching sales and production facilities in agribusiness sectors where it has established expertise.

With more than 20 locations in the U.S. and internationally, H.J. Baker provides products and services to the agriculture industry throughout the world. It is based in Westport, Conn.
