CONSTRUCTION will officially get underway Aug. 22 on a salt conversion plant at Cargill's biorefinery complex in Eddyville, Iowa.
HF Chlor-Alkali LLC, a newly formed affiliate of Harris & Ford LLC, will make caustic soda, muriatic acid and bleach on 29 acres at the Cargill Eddyville complex (Feedstuffs, July 15). The plant will have the capacity to produce 100,000 dry tons of caustic soda and 250,000 tons of muriatic acid per year.
It will serve all of Cargill's U.S. plants and other customers and is expected to commence production in early 2015.
Representatives from HF Chlor-Alkali and Cargill will speak at the groundbreaking and will be joined by other local, state and congressional officials, including Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds.
