BASED on sound science and a comprehensive review, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration announced Nov. 19 that it has approved the first genetically engineered (GE) animal intended for food: AquAdvantage Salmon.
FDA also issued two guidances for manufacturers who wish to voluntarily label their products as containing ingredients from GE or non-GE sources: (1) a draft guidance on labeling foods derived from Atlantic salmon and (2) a final guidanc
