Fatal renal failure affecting feedlot calves

Iowa Veterinary Diagnostic Lab finding fatal idiopathic/renal failure in feedlot cattle.

Iowa State University's Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory has been seeing cases of fatal idiopathic/renal failure from several feedlots throughout Iowa.

According to information distributed by the Iowa Beef Center, all known cases originated with calves weighing more than 750 lb. Clinical signs are similar in affected animals, and necropsy findings show enlarged and pale kidneys.
