Evonik starts plant producing methionine source for shrimp

First plant producing methionine source for shrimp starts up in Belgium, with product's market launch planned for mid-2016.

Evonik Industries announced March 31 that it has started up the world’s first production plant for a new methionine source specifically for shrimp and other crustaceans. The plant is located in Antwerp, Belgium.

Evonik added that the product, AQUAVI Met-Met — the dipeptide of two DL-methionine molecules — is expected to be launched on the market in mid-2016 and will be used as an aquaculture feed additive.
