Des Moines water lawsuit trial delayed a year

Iowa ag department continues to encourage use of nutrient reduction strategies led by farmers rather than regulation to address nitrate runoff.

The federal trial of Des Moines Water Works against farmers in three Iowa counties was previously scheduled to be held in August of this year; however, due to the court’s schedule and a desire to have issues pending in the Iowa Supreme Court resolved before the trial, the case has been rescheduled for a three-week period beginning June 26, 2017.
