Costco abandons location for chicken processing plant

Area residents and village trustees express opposition, leading to Costco's decision to abandon plans in Nickerson, Neb.

The Greater Fremont Development Council announced April 15 that Costco Wholesale Corp. (Costco) had selected the Greater Fremont area in Dodge County, Neb., as a preferred site to build a state-of-the-art poultry processing plant, but the plans have since come to a halt.
