Comment period closes on WOTUS rule

Many ag groups called for full withdrawal of water rule, but one farm group believes changes can be made to salvage proposal.

IT has been seven months since the Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers first proposed the long-anticipated "waters of the U.S." (WOTUS) rule, which sets out to clarify "navigable waters" that are under the jurisdiction of the federal government via the Clean Water Act (CWA).

Nov. 14 marked the end of the official comment period on the WOTUS rule. Now, the industry waits to see if any changes will be made to the proposal
