Cold blast hurts some canola, corn in North Dakota

Cold weather threat appears to be over for northern region, with little damage to soybeans and spring wheat but some frost damage to corn.

THREE consecutive nights of freezing weather last week likely damaged a number of early-planted canola fields in western North Dakota and possibly some early-planted corn.

The damaged canola fields may to have to be replanted with another crop, while damage to the corn should be minor, according to Robert Wisness, a western North Dakota farmer.
