Christensen Farms & Feedlots Inc. announced Jan. 31 that it has acquired the assets of Exetare Partnership LLP, a Clarkfield, Minn.-based pork production company. The transaction closed on Jan. 30.

"The acquisition of the Exetare business fits extremely well with our strategic growth objectives," Glenn L. Stolt, Christensen Farms chief executive officer. "It is a natural extension of our business model and our geographic presence."

Founded in the early 1990s, Exetare was a privately-owned, farrow-to—finish pork production company with operations in western Minnesota. The Exetare system has approximately 50 employees with roughly 15,000 sows and has relationships with 30 contract producers.

Founded in 1974 as a small family operation, Christensen Farms is now one of the largest producers of pork products in the U.S., with operations throughout the Upper Midwest and headquartered in Sleepy Eye, Minn. Christensen Farms is also a shareholder of Triumph Foods LLC.
