Chicken market strength supports Pilgrim's bottom line

Pilgrim's benefits from low feed costs, new investments and strong chicken market.

PILGRIM'S Pride Corp. reported that third-quarter earnings for 2014 surged 59% over the same quarter in 2013 as a result of a strong chicken market and lower feed costs.

Earnings in the third quarter of 2014 were reported at $256 million, or 99 cents per share. In addition, net sales surged to $2.27 billion, compared to $2.14 billion for the 2013 third quarter.
