Brazil benefitting from absence of U.S. chicken suppliers to China

Brazilian broiler meat exports to China have increased 60% over last two years.

China is the second largest broiler meat consumer in the world, according to a recent USDA Foreign Agricultural Service Global Agricultural Information Network (GAIN) report. However, the U.S. has been restricted since January 2015 from the market due to highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreaks. As a result, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile have all stepped in to capitalize on the market by increasing exports of broiler meat to China.
