Bill addresses food waste

AN estimated 133 billion lb. of food are wasted per year, representing 1,249 calories per person per day. Diverting 15% of the food that currently goes to waste would be enough to cut food insecurity in half in America.

These are some of the facts that have Rep. Chellie Pingree (D., Maine) aiming to tackle food waste. She introduced the Food Recovery Act, which includes nearly two dozen provisions to reduce food waste across the economy.
