Beef nutrient guidelines completed

The eighth revised edition of the National Research Council's "Nutrient Requirements of Beef" technical guide was recently completed by the study committee, according to a notice in a The National Academies of Sciences' Board on Agriculture & Natural Resources newsletter.

The study committee was led by Mike Galyean of Texas Tech University and study director Camilla Ables. The National Academies' report review committee has approved the report for release, and it is heading into print publication.

The 1,000-plus page manuscript will take a few months to format and print, the notice said, but those interested can sign up for announcements of its availability here.

The previous edition of the beef nutrition guidelines was published in 2000.
