Bayer raises Monsanto takeover bid

Company includes $1.5 billion reverse antitrust breakup fee in deal.

Bayer AG said July 14 it has increased its offer to Monsanto after engaging in private talks with the company over the past several weeks. The latest all-cash offer to Monsanto shareholders increasing the bid from $122 to $125 per share was made verbally on July 1 and in an updated proposal submitted to Monsanto on July 9.
