Monsanto confirmed Sept. 5 that it has been engaged in “constructive negotiations” with Bayer AG and that it has received a third, higher takeover bid. While key terms and conditions have not yet been agreed, Bayer said it is prepared to offer $127.50 per Monsanto share, or approximately $65 billion. The latest offer represents a 2% increase from Bayer’s last proposal.
