Aquaculture projects target alternative protein sources

Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre funds two projects aimed at identifying alternative feeds, inefficient growth in farmed salmon.

The Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC) announced Aug. 30 more than 140,000 pounds Sterling in funding support for two projects aimed at improving salmon feed formulations, amplified by more than a quarter-million pounds Sterling of funding from industry and academic partners.

The two new projects — which mark SAIC’s first feed-related projects and mean SAIC is now active across all four areas identified as being priorities for innovation — were announced at an 80-consort
