Ag census data show leaders by district

Census data reveal which congressional districts lead in number of farms and ag production.

THE U.S. Department of Agriculture released its analysis of statistics from the 2012 "Census of Agriculture" based on congressional districts.

It showed that Nebraska's third congressional district, which encompasses the western three-fourths of the state, topped the list, with 54,806 total farm operators, 35,850 farms and $17.7 billion in sales in 2012 (Table).
