N&H TOPLINE: Calcium research could transform feed formulation

Project aims to develop foundation of working digestible calcium system for use in commercial pig diet formulations. ALSO: Process developed to pretreat chicken litter so anaerobic microbes digest waste and weeds together.

A research project is spearheading advances in precision calcium nutrition, paving the way for improvements in feed formulation that could result in optimized animal performance, feed efficiency and, ultimately, profits across the swine feed industry, according to information from AB Vista.

The project, underway at the University of Illinois and funded by AB Vista, aims to develop the foundation of a working digestible calcium system for use in commercial pig diet formulations.
