Zinke confirmed as interior secretary

Agricultural groups say Montana native Ryan Zinke understands public lands and values true cooperation with stakeholders.

On Wednesday, the Senate confirmed Congressman Ryan Zinke of Montana to serve as secretary of the interior. With a bipartisan vote of 68-31, Zinke will serve as the 52nd secretary for the U.S. Department of the Interior, which is in charge of managing and conserving the nation's public lands and natural resources.

Zinke came to Congress in January 2014 after a 23-year career with the U.S. Navy. In 2008, he was elected as a state senator in Montana, where he led the chamber’s Edu
