Winter weather to linger into spring

Cold air in forecast for northern tier, and severe weather expected for southern tier.

A report from AccuWeather is supporting Punxsutawney Phil's 2017 prognostication, forecasting that winter weather will linger into spring across much of the U.S.

From coast to coast, cold air will maintain its grip across the northern tier of the country, while rain, thunderstorms and severe weather will threaten to kick off farther south, leading to a volatile season for many, the report noted.
