U.S. asks for Syngenta/ChemChina merger review extension

Companies still expect approval before April 12 deadline in Europe.

Syngenta AG told Bloomberg this week that the U.S. has asked for more time to review China National Chemical Corp.'s (ChemChina) $43 billion takeover of Syngenta. However, the company said it doesn’t expect the extension to delay the companies’ goal to close the deal in the first half of this year.

The Federal Trade Commission is seeking more information from the chemical companies in order to complete its review, Syngenta spokesman Paul Minehart told Bloomberg. &ldqu
